IR Issues Backgrounder: Proxy Advisory Firms Confirm Significant 2017 Canadian Policy Guidelines

During early 2016 both proxy advisory firms, Glass Lewis and Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), announced new guidelines regarding a number of Board governance parameters. These parameters were confirmed at a webinar panel discussion in early December co-sponsored by CIRI and the TMX, in which representatives of ISS, Glass Lewis and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) participated.

Given the importance of these Glass Lewis and ISS guidelines, it is paramount that IROs be fully aware of them as we enter the upcoming proxy season.
