CIRI Comments on the Consultation Paper on the Ontario Securities Act

In May, CIRI submitted recommendations to the Task Force to Review Capital Markets on the Ontario Securities Act and on July 9, the Taskforce issued their Consultation Report requesting feedback by September 7, 2020. CIRI strongly supports this initiative and chose to comment on the proposals that have the greatest impact on issuers and their investor relations professionals. 

CIRI's submission addresses a number of proposals under the following sections:

  • Regulation as a Competitive Advantage;
  • Ensuring a Level Playing Field;
  • Proxy System, Corporate Governance and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A);
  • Ownership Transparency; and
  • Proxy Voting System.
