CIRI Chapter Updates

CIRI British Columbia Chapter Update.

In British Columbia, a significant number of our members are in the mining sector, which has been hit very hard over the past year. It is of particular importance now that IROs understand where to add the most value to their teams. As is often the case, one of the best resources to draw from is people who have already been through this market cycle and have been in IR for much of their careers.

The BC CIRI Board is very pleased to announce the renewal of the Mentorship program. IROs from all sectors will share their experiences, offer guidance and provide an invaluable opportunity to learn. Watch for further details on the Mentorship program.

On June 20, the BC Chapter Board held a brainstorming meeting in Vancouver to ‘take the pulse’ of the membership and discuss areas of interest for future programming. Many great ideas were brought forward and will be shared through member sessions beginning in the fall. Thanks to everyone who participated in the event.

As usual, we encourage members to contact Alberta Board members with ideas for programs or interest in getting involved.

CIRI Ontario Chapter Update

CIRI Ontario hosted a member appreciation event at the 2013 CIRI Annual Conference. We send a big thank you to our sponsors, RR Donnelley and Cineplex Entertainment, for helping us to make this a successful event. The CIRI Ontario Sparkler took place on the Woodlands Rooftop Terrace of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, overlooking the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and presented a wonderful opportunity for both existing and prospective members to network over champagne and strawberries.

The Programming Committee of the CIRI Ontario Board is working on the following professional development events for fall 2013. Please mark these dates in your calendar:

September 24, 2013 – Dark Pool Trading

October 22, 2013 – Mentorship Breakfast

October 29, 2013 – On the Road: Targeting and Measuring

November 26, 2013 – View from the Sell-Side
