CIRI Chapter Updates

Alberta Chapter Update

CIRI Alberta hosted its annual nine-hole, best ball golf tournament in June, followed by several rounds of drinks and munchies. While the level of golf wasn’t spectacular, the level of fun and networking more than compensated.

As summer winds down, please mark your calendar for our next luncheon event on September 20. Richard Carleton, CEO, CNSX Markets Inc., will talk about how blockchain can be applied to the clearing and settlement of securities and how it will impact your role in investor relations. British Columbia Chapter Update

The CIRI BC Chapter held its Annual General Meeting in May. In addition to addressing regular business, the size of the Executive was increased to 12, leaving one position open. After many years of service, Erin O’Toole, Kettina Cordero and Sandra Daycock stepped down from the Executive. Following the AGM, Chris Cook, founder and CEO of Lionheart Ventures (https://bealionheart.com) conducted an interactive presentation and workshop titled Clarifying the Valuation Message

Lionheart Ventures is a strategic advisory firm that aims to help companies unlock their full potential and drive the equity value of the enterprise. The AGM and presentation by Cook were very well attended and provided an interesting opportunity to consider what defines a company’s value.

CIRI BC hosted a Summer Social in July, enabling CIRI friends and colleagues to catch up in a casual setting. Members and non-members were invited to build relationships with like-minded professionals and discuss IR-related topics, while celebrating the summer.

Our next event will be held on September 18, with Graham MacKenzie, Senior Account Manager, TMX Group Ltd., joining us as the speaker. We look forward to this event to kick off the 2018-2019 CIRI BC season.
