Award for Excellence in Investor Relations
CIRI’s highest honour, the Award for Excellence in Investor Relations, was presented to Katherine Vyse during the 2014 Annual Conference in June. Vyse recently retired as Partner and Senior Vice President, Investor Relations of Brookfield Asset Management.
Vyse remarked that she “fell down the rabbit hole” of IR, and thus began a 15-year career of IR pioneering. Her journey was filled with many new challenges and she credits CIRI’s events, publications and member network with helping her understand and apply IR best practices.
Since she joined CIRI in 1998, Vyse has been an active participant, giving generously of her time through speaking engagements and mentoring members new to the IR profession. She has also made a significant contribution through her presence on both the CIRI Ontario Chapter Board and the National Board as the Membership Committee Chair.
“Katherine’s contribution to the capital markets, to investor relations professionals throughout Canada and to the CIRI organization make her the perfect choice for the 2014 Award for Excellence,” said Colleen Vancha, the 2013 Award recipient and President of Creative Advantage Consulting Ltd.
Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations
The Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations, given by CIRI in honour of the late Belle Mulligan, recognizes individuals who have shown singular leadership in one or more aspects of the practice of investor relations.
As President of the CIRI Quebec Chapter, Jennifer McCaughey has demonstrated exceptional leadership by increasing appreciation of the investor relations profession and CIRI through well regarded professional development events. McCaughey is the Senior Director, Investor Relations and External Corporate Communications, at Transcontinental Inc.
“Jennifer has been an exceptional leader for the CIRI Quebec Board, launching events that raise awareness of the investor relations profession and CIRI by a broader audience,” said Yvette Lokker, President & CEO of CIRI. “By having high profile individuals with broad appeal speak at professional development events, the CIRI Quebec Chapter has attracted some 150 participants from various professions in the capital markets.”
“Jennifer’s involvement on the CIRI Quebec Board and her creative approach to professional development events have raised the profile of both the investor relations profession and CIRI among capital market participants in Quebec. Her leadership and commitment to advance the investor relations profession exemplify qualities that Belle admired,” said Len Mulligan, Belle’s husband.
