CIRI Chapter Updates

British Columbia Chapter Update

CIRI BC hosted its annual Holiday Social on November 27, bringing together IR professionals from across the province for an evening of connection, cocktails, and festive cheer. The well-attended gathering offered a warm space to network, unwind, and celebrate another successful year in the IR community.

A special thank you to our generous sponsors, Olympia Trust Company and Penda Productions, whose support helped make the event possible. Their continued commitment to CIRI BC is sincerely appreciated.

CIRI BC hosted a panel in December titled Why AI Matters to IR: Practical Applications of AI in the Workplace.

The discussion featured:

  • Dror Nadler, Executive Vice President, Product Management, Q4 Inc.;
  • Ozge Uncu, Partner, Management Consulting, Data Engineering & Applied AI, KPMG Canada;
  • Steve de Jong, CEO & Co-Founder, VRIFY; and
  • Jacy Zerb, Director, Investor Relations, Wheaton Precious Metals Corp., serving as Moderator.

The panelists discussed the practical applications of AI in investor relations and capital markets, highlighting its potential to enhance efficiency, generate insights, and improve workflow productivity. Nadler emphasized AI's transformative role in IR, envisioning it as a digital team member that complements rather than replaces human expertise. Uncu outlined three key AI applications: creating efficiencies, improving productivity, and enhancing personal quality of life, while expressing excitement about AI's potential to benefit IR teams through tasks like sentiment analysis and investment valuation.

Darren Seed, F.CIRI, President, Incite Capital Markets Inc., poses a question to the panel.

Ontario Chapter Update

CIRI Ontario entered the final quarter of 2025 with strong momentum as the Chapter Executive continued to advance its priorities around professional development, member engagement and community building. Based on insights gathered earlier in the year, the Chapter has focused on developing programming that reflects the evolving needs of IR professionals across the province, with an emphasis on practical learning and meaningful connections.

In December, the Chapter Executive is pleased to have hosted two in-person events designed to bring the community together while supporting members’ continuing professional growth. The first was a dedicated PD session exploring the increasing role of sponsored research in today’s capital markets. Featured speaker Ben Pirie, Co-Founder and Equity Research Analyst at Atrium Research, walked attendees through the changing landscape, the potential benefits and limitations of sponsored research, and how it can fit within a modern IR program.

Immediately following the session, members and guests were invited to join CIRI Ontario for its annual Holiday Social. This signature networking event brings together IR professionals from across the region to celebrate the season, reconnect with peers and forge new relationships ahead of the new year.

As 2025 comes to a close, the CIRI Ontario Chapter Executive remains focused on fostering a strong, connected and informed IR community. The Chapter Executive looks forward to delivering a full slate of programming in the year ahead and continuing to create opportunities that support the professional success of its members.
